The ITS LAST Higher Technical Institute offers a two-year post-secondary specialisation programme in logistics and innovative mobility systems. The programme was established in response to the logistics industry’s growing demand for qualified professionals, who remain difficult to find on the labour market. According to the Excelsior report by Unioncamere, logistics professionals rank among the seven most difficult roles to recruit.
Over the next five years, employment in the European logistics sector is expected to grow by 15%, while businesses continue to face a shortage of professionals with the necessary technical skills. Until recently, Italy lacked a highly specialised training pathway capable of equipping students with the practical skills required to work in the logistics sector.
LAST was established to address this need. Designed in collaboration with the businesses that understand the industry’s requirements first-hand, the programme provides targeted, practical training to support a smooth transition into employment.
Companies involved in the foundation that manages the ITS play an active role in shaping the curriculum and delivering the training. Industry professionals account for 50% of teaching hours, while students complete work placements equivalent to 50% of the total programme hours.
