VENETO INTERMODAL

What is VENETO INTERMODAL VENETO INTERMODAL is an European project co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program. The Lead Partner is Consorzio Zai and the other partners involved are Veneto Region, RFI (the Italian Railway Infrastructure Manager) and the Northern Adriatic Sea Port Authority (Port of Venice and Chioggia). Objective of the project The main framework of the project is the transport Masterplan of the Veneto Region, with a specific focus on goods and logistics. The action as a whole aims to strengthen the so-called “last mile” at three regional infrastructures of European interest. In fact, the freight villages of Verona and Padua and the Port of Venice are core nodes on the TEN-T network as well as infrastructures that support trades between the companies based in the regional territory and the other European and World countries. The project has an overall budget of 4 million of euro with a co-financing of 50%, and it will be concluded at the end of October 2022. The role of the Verona freight village The Verona freight village will be supported by RFI in the elaboration of both the preliminary and the final design of the new intermodal terminal equipped with tracks 750 meters long. The objective is to meet the European requirements, carrying out a set of works to implement the road connections of the new terminal, which is further connected to the High-Speed railway.
